Background Depression in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is common, distressing, difficult to treat, may increase carer burden and inadequately understood. It occurs more frequently AD than older adults without dementia. The reasons why some patients develop depression during others do not remain obscure. We aimed identify risk factors for using 3 large cohort studies assess whether these differed from those people normal cognition. Method used data dementia focused cohorts: ADNI (n = 665 AD, 669 cognition), NACC 698 711 cognition) BDR 757 AD). ratings were available the GDS & NPI addition Cornell.
